DIRECTED BY WOMEN FESTIVAL

Danish Cultural Institute Turkey cooperates with Directed by Women Turkey, focusing on gender equality initiatives within the Turkish film and TV-industry. 

Under the headline “Together we are strong” the goal is to support female creativity and promote cultural interaction between Denmark and Turkey. In relation to the International Women’s Day, 8th of March 2021, the first events of the festival were held in collaboration with local authorities in Eskişehir. Later this year, in September 2021, the last events will be held in Kadıköy, Istanbul. 

The first part of the festival focused on short movies of all kinds; documentaries, animation, experimental and  fiction movie screenings. Talks, workshops and panel debates were held. 

Danish Cultural Institute Turkey showcased a Danish short movie program, made in cooperation with Odense Film Festival and Danske Filmværksteder. Furthermore, Danish Cultural Institute Turkey hosted several talks, moderated by country manager, Füsun Eriksen, together with talented Danish female instructors, Katrine Brocks, Marianne Lentz, Tone Ottlie and Sylvia Le Fanu.
