Creating Hope for Children through Common Language of Art
The Danish Cultural Institute participated in the 8th edition of Atta Festival, Türkiye’s only international arts festival for children, held in Istanbul and Southeastern Türkiye, November 2024. The festival highlighted Danish culture on a global platform, presenting innovative and engaging performances for young audiences.
As part of the program, Danish Theatre Madam Bach, renowned for their sensory storytelling and nature-inspired performances, performed in Istanbul and conducted a masterclass for Turkish artists and educators. The initiative built on Madam Bach’s earthquake outreach project, supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, with performances and workshops held in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Diyarbakır prior to the festival.
This project exemplified Denmark’s commitment to international cultural collaboration, fostering intercultural dialogue, artistic growth, and capacity building. By connecting with children in socioeconomically disadvantaged and earthquake-affected areas, the initiative strengthened ties between Danish and Turkish artists, paving the way for future partnerships in the Theatre for Young Audiences sector.
The Danish Cultural Institute proudly facilitated this collaboration between Atta Festival and Madam Bach, with support from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Social Services and Culture Directorates, ensuring the project reached communities with limited access to cultural experiences.
This meaningful initiative celebrated creativity, resilience, and cross-border cultural exchange, leaving a lasting impact on both artists and audiences alike.
